Here are some pictures of the Zvezda 1/48 Yak-3 Soviet Fighter. This model kits is produced under the license of AS. Yakovlev design bureau. The kit comes in a humble packaging yet it sports an eye catchy art work. Inside you will find 3 light gray sprues and 1 clear. As with other models from Zvezda, the sprues are loose inside the box with chances of having some small pieces coming off the sprues. This one was no exception and a few parts were wandering around the box.
Considering the inner box design from Zvezda (which I like pretty much), there are little chances that those parts will be lost out of the box. The problems is that one can inadvertently pull the folded assembly manual with tiny parts between the folds. So you have been warned. Zvezda however kept the clear part in a separate baggie.
The main fuselage parts seems to have less flash and mold lines as compared with the other 2 sprues where they are quite notable. This means that putting this model together will require some extra cleaning. For a kit this price, the detail seems to be very subtle and not overly done.
The engine detail alone is like a mini kit on its own right. In my most humble and *personal* opinion, with minor wiring this engine can be brought to a eye catching feature should you deside to display yours.
Look for a build report on the Zvezda 1/48 Yak-3 Soviet Fighter soon.
My sincere thanks to Lucky Models for this kit.
