Vintage Revell & Monogram Displays

Vintage Monogram Store Display

Last Saturday while at my local hobby shop, I met with an interesting colleague model builder. Turns out that Mike Scott has made a hobby within the hobby. Mike recreates replicas of those hard to find and often expensive Revell and Monogram store displays.

Remember when you used to get a model kit for a mere .98 cents and put it together in an afternoon? Well, Mike brings back those memories and nostalgia without breaking our wallet. It is not hard to see that Mike has a keen eye and great attention to detail. His vintage Revell and Monogram store display reproductions are carefully printed and detailed down to every flap and fold.

The models are not included, but Mike works with reissues from Monogram and Revell preferably if they are molded in the original colors. Unfortunately, that’s not the case of the new Revell Atomic Cannon and Wrecker kits which are molded in light gray now. It would have been an awesome display, especially the one of the Atomic Cannon kit.

Mike does not have an online store, but you can get his displays over eBay. Look for his seller ID 3names   to see his latest listings.

  1. Gret information. For what it’s worth, I have had what I believe to be a Revell store display model of the SS United States. It is a completely painted and assembled model sitting on the revell stands and a wood base. Any value? Paint is faded somewhat and the rigging for the antennas are missing
