A few weeks ago I asked fellow model builder Nicholas Sagan for a review sample of these decals. He kindly obliged to my humble request and a few days later the big envelope was in our mailbox. Before my request, this decal sheet was only for the Red Jammer version to be used on the Bandai 1/72 Y-Wing Fighter.
Nicholas redesigned the sheet and now it got better than ever. As you can see in the picture below, the set was named 1/72 Y-WING HEROES. With this new sheet, we will cover our favorite Y Wing fighters. We have decals for:
Gold Leader
Gold Two
Gold Three
Gold Five
and of course, Red Jammer. All of them are bundled with their proper extra markings as seen on the actual filming miniatures. You have the choice also of using the canopy decal with or without the glaze (touché). Random markings to depict paint chipping are also included.
You will want to stock more of those Bandai Y-Wings
This decal set is superbly printed with no visible clear edges around the colors, markings and battle damage it tries to depict. The colors are solid with no bleeding, banding dots or moiré caused by cheap printers or paper. For that, I have to give credit to the guy with the most important task after the design, Dannon Marsh.
Although this is a nice availability to *all* Bandai model kit builders out there, I see these decal sets very handy to those who would like a different version of the Y-Wing but don’t have the means or knowledge to airbrush.

There is already a Red Jammer in the house, but my youngest son yelled shotgun when he saw this set. So they will be used on a second RJ soon.
