Revell 1/48 Messerschmitt Me 410B-6/R-2

Late in the war, the B-6 variant of the Me 410 was introduced as a coastal anti-shipping weapon. This impressive machine retained the massive armament capacity of the originals and added a search radar in the nose which could be used to detect Allied shipping. Most ships didn’t carry heavy enough armor on their tops to defend against the Me 410’s 13 and 20mm guns or the two thousand pounds of bombs they carried.

Revell 1/48 Messerschmitt Me 410B-6/R-2

This is the latest release (among others) from Revell under the Pro Modeler label. The Messerschmitt Me 410B-6/R-2 comes in 3 light gray sprues and 1 clear. There are 2 frets of photo etched goodies. 1 fret has the required parts for the antennae and the 2nd fret is in full color for the cockpit.

These 2 frets come from the Czech Republic and my hunch is that they are from Eduard. In order to accommodate the photo-etched parts on the cockpit, the raised detail must be trimmed down. The clear parts seem to *me* a little bit on the thick side but again, that’s for *my* taste.

As seen in the pictures, there is some flash around some of the parts of this copy but nothing that can’t be cleaned in a few minutes. The fuselage and wings have receded panel lines. Both, fuselage and wings assembly are shown below and are held together with masking tape, the fit is absolutely good. There are no gaps to deal with on the wings to the fuselage area.

NOTE FROM THE AUTHOR
Although there are no engines to display on this model, the detail on the cockpit, airframe, marking options and MSRP, make this model a very affordable option.
My sincere thanks to Revell USA for this sample.
