Revell 2017 Ford Raptor & Snap-Tite VW Beetle

The 2017 Ford F-150 Raptor is made from high-strength, military-grad aluminum alloy and equipped with a 3.5 liter EcoBoost engine that is both more powerful and much more efficient than the current 6.2 liter V8. Like most Raptors, it’s fully capable of taking on the highway, downtown streets, and muddy backwoods tracks-wherever the day goes, the Raptor will take you there.

Here is one of the most recent releases from the Revell. The 1/24 scale 2017 Ford Raptor. This is a Snap-Tite kit which requires no paint and/or cement to assemble.  The kit is very nice nice and pay good homage to the beautiful Ford Raptor Pick-Up truck.

I know that many folks would have love to see the 2017 Ford Raptor as a full Level 2 or 3 model kit -myself included- but I kinda see the Revell’s approach here. This truck simply has too many fans and most of those fans are not model kit builders whilst a full regular model kit would keep a potential Ford Raptor fan at bay. With the Snap Tite version, anyone can have a 1/24 Ford Raptor on his/her desk or shelf in a few minutes for less than $20.

What would I love to see on this model kit? Throwing a set of water slide decals with the kit wouldn’t hurt much. We can take the color to a next level. But as long as the Ford badges around the model kit are pre-printed, there’s little we can experiment with.

Revell Snap-Tite VW Beetle model kit.

The original Beetle was designed to be affordable for Germans to drive on the then new Autobahn. For generations these cars plied the roads of countries all over the world, but eventually even the best designs need to be revised. In 1994 the Beetle was redesigned as the New Beetle and the cars hit the streets starting in 1998. Although the car is completely different than the original, much of the “soul” is retained, producing a vehicle that is stylish, powerful and efficient.

Along with the 2017 Ford Raptor, Revell is also releasing a 1/24 VW Beetle 85-1976. Included with this model kit is a nice detailed interior manual shifter and all. A colorful sheet of peel n’ stick decals will entice boy and girls alike. Unlike Revell’s 2017 Ford Raptor, the VW Beetle has some parts attached to small sprues. Younger modelers will need some help removing these parts.

Below there’s a time lapse video of my granddaughter building the Beetle with my help. Her veredict:

I love it grandpa, I wish it was pink!
