New model kits selection at Michaels stores

Yesterday after stopping by at Michaels Stores for some Testors ”Wet Look” gloss clear, we did noticed a bunch of NEW products on the shelves. Technically they are not new but rather new offerings from the craft store. Many of us have stopped going to the stores because they bring from Revell and Monogram models a new item every blue moon. The building supply also received a revamp for the upcoming holiday season and although most of the pegs were empty, a lot of new upcoming products have their spot already allocated for paint sets, brushes and more.

A bunch of new colors from the Testors Spray Enamel was also added as well as plenty of colors from the CreatxFX line in both, bottle and spray. I wish that those new spray enamel colors from Testors were Lacquer instead but well, they can’t please all of us. Michaels is running a 50% off on any regular priced item for the labor day weekend so I brought to my studio that MPC 1/24 Knight Rider for a mere $12.50 and I look forward to getting that ’64 Pontiac GTO from Polar Lights soon.

We would love to see on the comments section below if these kits are showing on the Michaels stores in your area.

  1. Hey George! I stopped hitting up the Michael’s here, too, just because the offerings were so little AND they didn’t supply any of the weathering tools that modelers nowadays know and love. BUT if they start carrying the CreateFX line I might have to start stopping in there again. How do you like the CreateFX line yourself?

    1. Hello Justin, sorry for the delay. I’m so trying to catchup on many things.

I’ve never seen any weathering products at Michaels. You may want to check your local Hobby Lobby instead. They do carry the Tamiya Weathering Master sets A.B, C & D. Those I’ve been using them for a few years and I swear by them. They also carry many basic colors from Vallejo which seems that they started carrying them not too long ago. Hobby Lobby also have a 40% discount coupon.

I love Vallejo colors, they are awesome with your airbrush and they have rival when used with regular brush for figure painting. My LHS recently brought Citadel colors but darn they are expensive. Wargamers love Citadel. I’d like to do a comparo. Also @ Hobby Lobby you’ll find supplies for more advanced modeling,

As for the CreateFX. I haven’t tried them yet. Personally I see them more suited for plastic and wooden crafts than modelling, Plus I barely use any enamel paints for my projects with the exception of a few colors from the Testors old school square bottles. Yellow, red, green, white, black.

  2. Must be a local store thing. I was just at the Michaels in Monaca, PA this past weekend and it was just the usual Revell offerings.
