Moebius Jonny Quest’s Dragonfly finished

Back in December we received this sample from Moebius Models and reviewed it here. Finally I decided to give it some TLC and put the Jonny Quest Dragonfly model kit together. The fuselage went together without a hitch. If you have this kit in your stash, know that there’s very little sanding to be done with it. The wings are a one piece deal.

Rather than using the display base provided by Moebius, I decided to display the Dragonfly model in different way. First, I used a 3mm blinking blue LED on the engine. Somewhere in the middle of the model kit, I added another 3mm (non-blinking) LED. The LED inside is clear but I threw two coats of Tamiya Clear Yellow X-24 and that’s the yellowish glow seen inside the cockpit area. To attach the base tube in which the electrical wires run thru I used a small piece of Evergreen Models 11/32” tube #231. Inside the 11/32” goes a 9/32” also from Evergreen Models #229. Under the base there is a 9V battery to power up the LED’s.

Inside the model received a coat of Krylon Short Cuts spray paint Chrome SCS-032. Outside I used also Krylon Short Cuts Gloss White SCS-053 and a coat of Testors Gloss Cote.

NOTE FROM THE AUTHOR
This is a nice model to add to your collection whether you’re into Sci-Fi, TV Shows or movie models. It can be a nice weekend project with or without LED lighting.

Happy model building!
