Bandai 1/72 Y-Wing Fighter as Red Jammer

I share here with our loyal readers and casual organic visitors my humble version of the Y-Wing fighter ”Red Jammer”. The red Y-Wing Studio Model was never seen onscreen. For a long time it has been speculated that this was the first Y-wing -built for Star Wars- A New Hope-, but that has yet to be confirmed. The modelling world started to call it “Red Jammer” when referring to it and the name stuck amongst fans.

The prop which had the right side engine assembly unfinished, was sent to the U.K. for prop builders at pinewood to use as reference whilst building the full scale fighter as seen in the hangar prior to the battle of Yavin IV. Once the full sets were constructed, the color was changed to yellow instead of red.

As with Gold 2, there are a few extra kit bash parts not seen on the rest of the fleet. In case you didn’t know, there is an aftermarket conversion set for Red Jammer which includes the replacement parts on the droid sprocket and also the Tiger 1 sprocket on Gold 2. In case you blinked, here our hero making a cameo in the animated Star Wars show Rebels.

I will definitely build in the nearby future another Red Jammer Y-Wing and Gold 2 as well. But first I will need to get ahold of the aftermarket parts from Florian. Since I already built this one, I have traced a plan of ”attack” to light up the engines on the other builds so stay tuned!
