Built Academy RQ-7B UAV

A few weeks ago we presented a quick view of the sprues here. I have been working this model kit in between breaks from other builds. It is a simple kit and it was basically finished in a few hours. The kit a very nice representation of the RQ-7B UAV. 2 figures are included and although these are not perfect, they aren't that bad either. Legs are separate parts and the torsos are comprised of

Academy 1/72 Apache AH-64A

The Boeing AH-64 Apache is a four-blade, twin-engine attack helicopter with a tailwheel-type landing gear arrangement, and a tandem cockpit for a two-man crew. Originally, the Apache started life as the Model 77 developed by Hughes Helicopters for the United States Army's Advanced Attack Helicopter program to replace the AH-1 Cobra, and was first flown on 30 September 1975. The AH-64 was introduced to U.S. Army service in April 1986. The AH-64 Apache features a nose-mounted

New Academy 1:48 F-4B Phantom

Yes, you are reading right. There's a new treat to us from Academy Models in the shape of an all new tooled F-4B Phantom. One thing you can notice on the pictures below is the ''one piece'' fuselage.  Judging by the tooling pictures, this is a similar approach to Tamiya's 1/32 Phantom featured here last year. I'm not surprised at all to see this model kit sporting Cartograf decals and somehow I have the hunch that

1/35 Academy Merkava IV LIC Tank Review

Development of the Merkava Mk 4 commenced in the early 1990s and its existence was first revealed in 2002. First production Merkava Mk 4 MBTs have been delivered to the Israel Defence Force (IDF) and the first battalion was fully operational in 2004. The Merkava Mk 4 will start to replace the older US supplied upgraded General Dynamics Land Systems M60A1 series MBTs. The first battalion of Merkava Mk 4 tanks entered service with the

Academy 1/72 Dragon Wagon Model Kit

In 1942 a new 40 ton semi-trailer tank transporter was required. This was to offer better off-road performance than the M9 24-small-wheel trailer, and greater capacity than the 30 ton 8-large-wheel Shelvoke and Drewry semi-trailers, then in use with the Diamond T tractor unit. This new trailer was designed by the Fruehauf Trailer Company (based in Detroit, MI). A new tractor unit was required, as this heavier trailer was more than the Diamond T could

Academy 1/48 F-86F ‘The Huff’

As promised, here we are sharing the pictures of the newest iteration from Academy's 1/48 F-86F. The kit at the time of publishing is not widely available in the United States. So, this kit was imported via eBay from Korea. This is the 3rd USAF F-86F added to my collection and being the 1st in 1/48 scale. This is one of my favorites aircraft. I'm lucky enough to have a block 50 F-86H on display

New Alclad 2 Klear Kotes

And Alcad2 does it again! I came across the new line of clear coats from Alclad2 at my local hobby shop, and I was immediately curios. Back in March 2011, the folks at Alclad 2 announced the introduction of 6 new finishes to their product catalog: ALC 311 Klear Kote Light Sheen 4oz/120ml ALC 312 Klear Kote Semi-Matte 4oz/120ml ALC 313 Klear Kote Matte 4oz/120ml ALC 314 Klear Kote Flat 4oz/120ml ALC 408 Armoured Glass Tint 1oz/30ml ALC 600 Aqua Gloss Clear

Academy 1/48 Mig 21-PF

Here we add the 1/48 Academy MIG 21PF to our finished models section. A simple and affordable, yet a fair representation of this Soviet era aircraft. History: The Mikoyan-Gurevich MiG-21 (Russian: Микоян и Гуревич МиГ-21; NATO reporting name "Fishbed") is a supersonic jet fighter aircraft, designed by the Mikoyan-Gurevich Design Bureau in the Soviet Union. It was popularly nicknamed "balalaika", from the aircraft's planform-view resemblance to the Russian stringed musical instrument or ołówek (English: pencil) by
