1/48 Wings of Glory Showing up (again)

When 21st Century went out of business, I was one of those that mourned their departure. My kids saw me collecting them and I saw them playing with some of those that came in less than perfect boxes. Collectors have been looking for a replacement,  there’s enthusiasm and the wallets are open. But  we are being left neglected.

2010 brought Forces of Valor to Target stores. Other than 1/32 and 1/18 Abrams & Bradley Tanks (both, sand and NATO colors) we never had the chance to get those interesting German subjects pictures on the back of the boxes. Target simply phased out the line without a chance to us. I know, these toys get a fair share of shelf real estate, but there is a market for it.

Target had allocated a spot to fit 2 of the 1/18 vehicles. Usually an Abrams and Bradley. For the most part, there was one missing or the spot was empty meaning that they were selling good.

2012 brought Wing of Glory in 1/48th scale. Problems was (and is) that this line is being sold by Walmart. And when it comes to Walmart, they do have the worst distribution system around. With Target, once you get the DPCI# of  X or Y item, usually in collector’s boards, you can pretty much trace what you’re looking for with a few phone calls.

The P-51 Mustang shown here is one of the more sought after models from the Wings of Glory line. I’m providing you all with a scan of the receipt so you can get their stock number. I did checked at but they come up empty (how predictable). There are better chances if you bring these numbers and have an employee enter them in their fancy stock ”gun”.

Happy Hunting!

Note from the Author
Some of these are being sold on eBay for $29.99 + S&H. That’s a lot considering that Walmart’s price is $7.97. So, unless you’re like Courage the Cowardy dog that lives in the middle of nowhere, don’t feed the scalpers.

Unimax 1/72 Abrams and Bradley

This is a diorama of a fictional battle of Fallujah made with Unimax 1/72 Abrams M1-A1 and Bradleys M3-A2. These Military Toys are exclusive to Target stores as you can see on the boxed pictures. They are very affordable at $5.00 each. This diorama was a weekend project with my son using a Scene-Arama base, plaster of paris and utility poles also from other Unimax Toys. The Abrams and Bradley were painted in NATO colors using NATO Black, NATO Green and NATO Brown from Tamiya colors and airbrushed with a Paasche Talon airbrush. A friend of mine who served in the Gulf War saw the pictures of this diorama and he told me seeing scenes like these in the infamous Highway of Death in Irak. Questions or comments can be left below. Hope you like it!

1/18 Abrams M1-A1 Tank from Unimax, Bravo Team

Here in the states, the Unimax Toys for the most part, bear the seal of ONLY AT TARGET seal meaning that they are Target Store exclusive toys. These are cool military toys that if you are into collecting them, get them while you can from your local Target. The Unimax 1:18 Abrams Tank is currently priced at $29.99 USD. The 1:18 Abrams come with the turret separate inside the box, yet it is still a huge box. So shipping this toy does not comes cheap if you opt to get it from and on-line toy seller or the auction place. If you don’t have a Target store in your area, get a family member or friend from other area to get it for you. Here are the pictures of the 1:18 Abrams M1 in Desert color from Unimax. The last few times we have been to the store, the camouflage version has been showing up on the shelves. The boxes are so big, that there are usually only two of them at any given time. That’s also including the 1:18 U.S. M3A2 BRADLEY.
